This is a recent commission. I enjoyed working on this watercolor painting. It is a sweet little moment in time, with the warm morning sun streaming across the porch of the lake house. I hope this will be a treasured memory for Lily and her family for years to come.

Today I delivered my two paintings that were accepted in the Visual Arts Alliance 25th Juried Open Exhibition, juried by Sally Sprout. "Winter Light on Fruit" and "Mykonos in May" were both accepted. I had also entered "Gandering Geese", but it didn't make the cut. I'm excited and honored to be in this show! The Opening Reception is Thursday, May 1, 2008, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Williams Tower Gallery, 2800 Post Oak Blvd., Houston, TX 77056. The show will be on display May 1 to June 5, 2008. Williams Tower Gallery is on the ground floor and is open for public viewing Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The building is closed on weekends. There is no charge to visit the gallery. It is a beautiful space, and I hope you will make time to come see this well chosen exhibit which includes a wide variety of media. And while you are there, you may as well walk out to the amazing Water Wall, a must-see attraction for anyone visiting the Williams Tower! Hope to see you at the Opening Reception!

This painting was recently on display at the Watercolor Art Society-Houston 31st International Exhibit in Houston, Texas. I hope you were able to get by and see it before it came down last Thursday. I painted these feisty geese from a photo taken at the Duck Pond on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. I think the big guy definitely has some attitude!

"Summer Pals"

"Summer Pals"
5" x 7"
Watercolor on Arches 140 CP

This little painting is a moment in time several years ago. The middle boy is my son, and the two other boys are our friends' two sons. Our two families were on a great summer vacation together in a rural area near Reliance, Tennessee, close to the Ocoee River. Great memories!

I love to paint people when they are engaged in something: doing a job, enjoying a walk with friends, playing a game of cards, playing a sport. I like to show a snapshot of someone's day. These types of paintings evoke such great memories in most viewers.

"Summer Pals" received an Honorable Mention award at the Watercolor Art Society-Houston July Monthly Exhibit, and will be on display there until August 2. The Watercolor Art Society - Houston is located at 1601 West Alabama in Houston, Texas.

This is my painting that was accepted into the 2007 Watercolor Art Society-Houston International Exhibit. I painted this in watercolor using a limited palette (3 to 5 colors) for maximum color harmony. My layering technique gives the fruit a natural glow, with light coming from a window which is just out of view. I used a photo that I took last winter as my source. Not sure if this comes across on screen, but the cherries seem to jump out of the painting! I have limited edition signed Giclee prints available for purchase. If you are interested, please e-mail me for details.

"Rush Hour" - Venice

"Rush Hour"
9.5" x 12.25"
Watercolor on Arches 140 CP

"Rush Hour" is a recent watercolor of the Grand Canal in Venice. I enjoyed painting this slice-of-life scene, wondering what the gondoliers were chatting about. My source material was a small part of a photo that a friend took when she was in Europe. What a dream vacation that would be....maybe someday!
